check ball madness

Im trying to figure out how many check ***** Im supposed to have on the top side of the VB. I have ONE. Thats it. I have the video for rebuilding a 700r4 and the dude on the video said that ALL 700r4s will have at least TWO in the VB (he also shows the locations). Am I missing one? Somebodys been in the tranny before me and Im trying to determine if anything is amiss. Also I installed the police 3-4 valve this weekend and my 2-3 shift wants to slip before engaging. 1-2 is solid and 3-4 is solid. but 2-3 will slip badly if im steppin on it when it shifts. any thoughts? When I had the VB down could one or more of the checkballs above the separator plate come out or get misplaced? Ididnt remove the SP but it was not sitting flat on the case while the VB was out.

If you don't have a shift kit look here
http://www.transonline.com/electroPu...site/index.cfm

If you have a shift kit you have to go by their instructions.

in an 1988 & up valve body you can use only one check ball in the valve body casting.

THe video will show two,,,,, one near the front of the vb and one back a couple of inches. Always Install the one that is back a couple of inches.

The front one is a check ball for the over-run clutch pack application and can be left out.

If you are not running the Trans-Go Shift kit, use two in the valve body. With the Trans-Go Performance Shift kit, one near the front of the valve body.
