axle gasket
what is the best axle gasket to use? are there different material types or just cork for rear ends?
. i will be replacing the gasket on the good old 9bolt and looking for the best available. i have never changed an axle gasket before. i don't want to put in on and have to do again. any pointers? where can i get a 9 bolt axle gasket? since 9bolts parts are rare.....

yep use rtv, just make sure that you get good coverage, and don't squeeze it all out when you tighten down

LOL that's something i was thinking about. i like the black one too myself
. thanks for the tips guys. i've enver liked rtv for making a gasket, and i know a lot of people use it without any problems. i always use a regular old fel pro gasket, sort of black looking paper about .025 thick.

Personally I always use a gasket.
The 9 bolt cover gasket available at www.9bolt.com are ~.205 thick paper style gaskets.
