I think I've been ripped off!
I picked up my car today after having the tranny rebuilt at a local shop. I had paid for a shift kit and corvette servo to be installed, so I was expecting some neck snapping shifts, well nothing it shifted exactly the same when it was stock. The only brand of shift kit that this shop uses is called a (Raybestos) I think, anyway I've never heard of it. Has anyone here heard of this kit, is this normal, or did I just get ripped off?

Raybestos is not a performance company
they deal in OE products

Actually raybestos builds some pretty good friction material for a wide range of machinery including transmission frictions. I have them in my 700R4. They don't make shift kits.
Some high performance stuff is listed here http://www.transmissioncenter.net/Al...nsmissions.htm
Probuilt also sell their stuff.

Well, now I know I've been ripped off! I just visited the raybestos site. They don't even sell shift kits! If anyone here is from Kokomo, IN. Stay the hell away from J&L transmision!

Raybestos makes rebuild kits, never heard of a shift kit by them. Unless, they have a "kit" to fix a 700r4 design problem. There's a few of those out there, but they're not meant to firm up shifts, they're meant to make the 700r4 last longer.
How much did you pay for all this?
Sorry to say, dude, you should've done it all yourself. It's not hard. Might be a little scary, but it's not hard. Maybe they just forgot to readjust the TV cable?
