700r4 shifting points
well its been a week since i got my car back from the tranny shop. i had to have it rebuilt with new everything, i burnt up all of my clutch packs, and my band. well it was rebuilt good, 2000 stall converter, "hybred shiftkit"(part transgo part superior), and a lifetime warrenty...well it shifts alot better now then it did but im not happy with the shift points. 1st gear seemed to just come way to quick, if i was part throtle it was fine, but if it was at WOT it always shifted at 3000rpms. the thing that made me think was that it was only 1st gear that seemed to shift to earily, every other gear was fine. i took it back and told them that i think the TV cable needed more adjusting casue of what it was doing, so we sat there and played with the cable. well he marked the cable then procedded to set it, went back to the same spot everytime no matter what. so he put on some kind of spring on the cable to tighten it up more so it will shift higher. well after the test drive it shifted at 3500rpm's. they desided this is the best its gonna get just by messin with the cable, and told me they are gonna have to mess with my govener(spelling???)......well they cant do it for 2 weeks since the guy that i wnat to do it is goin on vacation, i told them to just leave it how it is and ill take it home and come back when the guy gets back....well during the test drive before i didnt really drive far under part throtle, and on the way home i noticed that every gear doesnt shift till 3000rpm's now under part throtle. thats annoying as hell!!! so how can they push 1st gears RPMS more and still let all my other gears shift earlier during part throtle?....or is there something wrong??? the TV cable is brand new, as old as the rebuild, i bought it directly from GM myself so its the right cable....anyones thoughts???
To start with you might try removing the spring they put on the tv cable and be sure it's adjusted right. Then change governor springs and maybe weights.
Adding one weaker spring might help raise 1-2 shift. Changing to lighter weights can effect part throttle shifts also. The shift kit thing could cause some difficulty.

with the spring off, it allows 1st gear to shift at 3000rpm's at WOT, and everyother gear isnt bad at part throtle....with it on 1st gear is at 3500rpms at WOT, everyother gear is at 3000 at part
U could just manual hold it in first and shift when U want until you can get it adjusted properly, that is what I do becuase I am not all to happy with where the stock shift points are because the motor bogs down and I get knock sometimes under lights throttle
na, i payed to much to do that, they better fix it. but its not to the point where it will kill me to leave it in OD for 2 weeks. i took the spring thing off so it doesnt shift so high
