My car lost 3rd and 4th gear when I was driving home tonight. Transmission will kind of shift into third but slips, (seems like neutral), 1st and 2nd seem fine. Fluid did not boil over and reads full. Is the transmission toast or is there anything else that might be wrong? I really appreciate your help.

3-4 clutch pack is gone, time for a rebuild.

WELCOME TO THE BOARD!
MKerbouchard, I'd say you've got bad luck with trannys. First your Blazer and now your GTA. Maybe you should just drive
r e a l s l o w.

p.s. I need to borrow back my G-Tech. Making much better top-end power with 350 ESC module and knock sensor.

HAd the same thing happen on my 91 GTA. I just got the tranny back from the shop they had diagnosed the failure as the 3-4 clutch pack. 1700 dollars is what I paid for a tranny that was good for 650 horse.

Mean 5.7 your not to far away from where I am at. Do you run your car at Joliet? If so I would be interested in heading up there sometime. It is easier to go to a track with someone who is already familiar with it.
