Not shifting to 2nd or 4th

This problem really sucks. From a stop, the tranny runs all the way through 1st gear to redline, then it shifts into 3rd and thats it.

Will it be cheaper to fix it or to replace the stupid thing.

BTW its a 700-r4

The problem is in the 2-4 band, it is most likely burnt or broken.

think ahead

Im not saying that alot of ppl can do this, but i have an extra tranny and 350 sitting in my garage. When i bought the car my friend sold me my 86 firebird w/ a 350 and turbo 400 trans for 650 dollars. Also, he gave my a tranny that needed a new torque converter and the engine needed to be torn down and rebuilt. I put a brand new torque converter that i got for 50 dollors and put it on the tranny and am rebuilding the engine with friends and finding deals on the machining, because i have no time limit. See, if my engine or tranny went it would be little $$$ for me to replace it beacuse i had time to find parts i needed for cheap and not rush.
