Trans-Go Shift kit 350"S" install- need help/tips on 1-2 shift valve - broken
I have now started working on my 350 Turbo(disassembled over a month painstakingly) tranny long tailshaft housing salvage from a Jeep truck - (1970's and later because it has the S-LINK for the Manual Valve)
Got the Transgo shift kit - all manual option - which I am sure and I hope many of you should be familiar with
The 1-2 shift valve assembly only needs to be removed from valve body if you are going with the all manual option
The video says that I should use my THUMB to jerk the assembly so that the roll pin can slide out enough to pull it out
Mine wasn't moving - no matter what - it turns out that after trying to press it up and down with a rubber handle portion of a chisel (I dont know my own power) the part of the head of the valve assemly that holds the roll pin cracked and then fell out
SUCH IS MY LUCK THESE DAYS
SO MY QUESTION - CAN I SALVAGE A SIMILAR 1-2 VALVE ASSEMBLY FROM ANY 350 VALVE BODY AND REUSE IT ?
DOES THIS SHOW THAT PERHAPS THE VALVE WAS BINDING AND BROKE THE HEAD RATHER THAN POP UP AND DOWN LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO DO??
SHOULD I SUSPECT THE WHOLE VALVE BODY AND MAYBE CONDEMN IT ?
CAN I LIGHLTY SAND ANYWHERE NEAR THE ENTRY WAY OF THAT 1-2 SHIFT VALVE OR IS IT POSSIBLE THAT I MAY CAUSE FURTHER DAMAGE??
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance
