ok here is my question i have found its cheaper to get a used or even a new 700r4 tranny to replace mine. but i have also found other trannys are even cheaper i would like to know which other trannys i can put into my 84 trans am without having to do too much alterations. my t/a has a 305 carb. with 700r4 tranny right now thanks....

 

Not sure what your question is. You say other transmissions, are you referring to ones such as a THM-400 for example? Or are you referring to different rebuilds? The simple way is to stick with the 700. It's a decent transmission after a proper rebuild and you will not have to worry about linkage issues etc. Pro-built, or taransfixleo are here on the boards and can give you advice on what to look for in a rebuild.

 

th350 with b&m pn 30299, i ithnk the same of a th200 a th400 will work with aftermarket torque arms. make sure you don't get one with a BOP bolt pattern.
