On a stock trans you will get a big improvement.

Transgo is the best..........

Do a search.......

how much faster would my car be with a shift kit, vs not having one?? I have the L03 engine and open element air cleaner... I need a transmission rebuild and torque converter, does a hi stall converter really improve performance alot?

Shift kit is also on my list of to-do's. From what I've read on here, your probably going to want to go with the Trans-Go, that's what I'm gonna go with. As for gains, you might get a tenth or so, but it's probably not going to be much more than that.

i had one on my 89 rs. it was nice. i installed it my self. it was pretty easy, with the video. Trans-go is the way to go. the B&M kit doesn't fix problems with our trannys. the transgo does. i was able to chirp 2nd every time. and 3rd would just jump forward. it was a big improvement over the stock shifting.

I am also thinking about a shift kit, but I don't know if it would help me much in my quarter times because I already have problems with the tires spinning between 1st and 2nd. I usually get a good bark, and sometimes backend sideways movements, so would a shift kit be a good idea or not?

sure. but you could also try some new rear control arms, panhard rod, tires, and any other traction improvement options.

i got the B&M shift improver kit and it just made my tranny worse.....yah it will chirp in second....but if i try to manual go through the gears it will rev up really high like its in neutral when i shift.........the directoins said not to put it on a old worn out tranny.........i learned my lesson

I just put a Transgo in my car a couple weeks ago and my trans in not working right anymore. I have gone through it and takin it back apart 3 times and I still have problems

1) It starts off in 2nd gear and will not downshift into 1st
2) Holds 2nd gear waaay to long (redline)
3) Will not downshift from 4th to 3rd when travelling 60+ MPH

My trans worked perfectly before the install. Transgo has been helpful on trying to solve my problems but nothing has worked. I am going to replace my new autozone filter with a new GM filter, kinda the last hope. I think its time to get a T-56.
I regret getting it bigtime. Can't even sell the tans now, except maybe as a core

Are you running the TPI on it? (I don't know about the TBI or MPFI.) If you are, try playing with your TV or throttle valve Cable. I have found that if it is not adjusted properly you'll never kick down to passing gear, you'll redline before shifting, won't shift at all, or you have to let off the gas to get it to shift. I actually played with it to try to improve my shift points and really got it messed up. Mark where it is now if, especially if it is still in the stock position. It may need a little tweaking since you changed the way the tranny's fluid flows and the way it shifts.

I am running with a TBI. I have redone the TV 3 times and nothing has changed. I set it according to transgo's instructions.

How did you set the detent cable? Did you open the throttle all the way eith your hand or did you use the pedal to open it up? I think i moght be having the same problem with my 700.

The detent spring, you just have to bolt it up, no particular spot, it will settle itself out.

Well, I guess I'm not the only one
