Problems with clutch

I just installed my trans and hooked up the master/slave cylinder, but with clutch pedal pushed in with car in gear it seems to be dragging. If I put the car in neutral I can roll the car forward or backward but if the car is in gear with the clutch pedal pushed in I cannot roll the car anymore than if the pedal is out. I felt of the clutch fork while I pushed in the clutch and it seemed to move at least an inch. The clutch pressure plate, disc, throwout bearing, and pilot bearing are new. Could this be from the clutch assembly being new and I can not overcome it but the motor could?(engine isn't done yet so I can't start it.) Any info would be very apprciated (spelling?) Thanks

Has the clutch ben together for a while? I've had them where the friction got stuck to the flywheel or the pressure plate just from rust and sitting there, even though the release mechanism was working right, it still acted like it was engaged... it usually clears itself up when the engine is first started though.

Yes, it was assembled when I got it 2 months ago and its untelling how long before that it was assembled. I can't get hold of my buddy I bought it from because he is out of town. That would make complete sense since I saw a little rust on the outside of the pressure plate when I seperated the engine and trans for install. Thank you very much RB83L69, you have been a great help with some of my problems (many more to come I'm sure )
