Trans banging noise

i have a 700r4 trans in a 92 firebird, when i jump on it at a lite or stop sign sometimes i get a loud bang/clank noise when i accelerate, are there rubber bushings on the trans crossmember that have gone bad or have i broken a bolt loose holding the transmission, the universal joints are new in it so i know thats not the problem with it......any suggestions on repair or how much a shop would charge to fix it.....thanks guys

It sounds like a transmission mount. I would hope that you wouldn't take it to a shop to replace. Its a very easy to replace. Its about as basic as changing your oil.

sounds to me that you have a bad tranny mount....... if you can get a polyurethane one cause the stock ones dont last long and take it easy on it till you install the new one !

only one, it is right behind your tranny pan between your tranny and the crossmember it has 2 bolts (that go into the tranny) and one nut on the crossmember! as for prices....... i dont remember what mine was but i do know that is an energy suspension one.
good luck

while you're under there look at the torque arm mount too. just follow the torque arm to where it slides in to the forward mount, if the rubber there is shot it'll move up and down in the mount and go "bang"

yes you can get a poly torque arm mount, I think ES makes those too. You have to do a little modification to the OEM mount to install it, basically grind or drill a few rivets out...not a big deal.
