How fast do u think my car could go?
I have a 1986 Trans Am with a recently put in 350 TPI with a mild cam. For other mods i have a custom chip, high flow converter, and magnaflow muffler. I have the 700R4 tranny with i think 3.27 gears. My tires are 245 50 zr16's and my redline is at 5600RPM. Any ideas on how fast i could get it up to? Thanks in advance!
I got the 2.73s
700r4 with manual lockup
245/60/15
back before I witnessed a van doing 100mph smash into the civic that was about 5 seconds ahead of me, killing/crushing/and literally scattering her brains all over the car(I unfortunatley saw this, I was there before the cops, the van was stolen, the dude jumped out and ran), I had my car at 110mph, it was running a mere 2300rpm.
althgough, I have 300hp/400ft.lbs
since witnessing that event, I always obey the speed limit.
you would be smart to do the same

on this site you punch in tire diameter, tranny gears, rear gears, and max rpm and you get your top speed. its very accurate.
my 3.73 rear, 27 inch tires, 1:1 tranny and 6300 rpms was only about 2 mph off what it said it would be, 130 and i went 128.

I calculated it out and it says 182.36MPH? I dont know if i did it right. I put 3.27 for rear axle ratio, .70 for trans gear ratio, 25.5 (16''rims-16*8) for tire height, and 5500 RPM. Is that right??

alrite, if the equations are correct, my car could go 222mph.
of course, that is theory.
it fails to take into account that my car has no power over 4300rpm. It doesent take into account horsepower of a car, which is needed to overcome wind resistance.
Also, at 222mph, my car would start to take off!!!

Aw hell, just step on it and look down at the speedo right before you get spooked.
My Iroc: 350 TPI/A4, 2.77 9 bolt w/ 245/50-16s...I saw a hair over 140 MPH.
That's good enough for me.
