B&M megashifter problems.

first off let me say i shouldn't have gotten the shifter. the only good thing about it is the looks. how do you wire the neutral safety switch and the reverse lights switch? the instructions suck...they don't even say what wire goes to what terminal on the switch or does it not matter? i hooked up the wires and tried cranking the engine over but no luck...anyone with experience in putting these things in please help.

I really dont understand why people cant install this thing,

maybe you get the wrong instructions, if you didn't get the one specific to your car...When I installed mine it only took me like two hours, all I neded to get was some wire and the box thing (cant think of the name right now) well hope thihs helps.

It took me all of about an hour to install mine, love it to death. If i didn't have this shifter, i would have dropped my trans along time ago and probally lost the engine too, with the stock shifter, i'd constantly shift from 2nd to nuetral and rap it out to 8k. If you don't understand the importance and improvement this shifter provides...you don't deserve one, and you shouldn't be driving a camaro...it's too much car for you.

Same here, love mine. Install took a few hrs, but didn't even have to get under the car, and used the stock cable.

maybe my problem is the radioshack relay it talks about. did everybody use one that has put the shifter in?

ontogenesis...maybe you don't need to be driving a camaro if you can't even manualy shift with the stock shifter. i've never had any problems shifting 2 to neutral.

I also have one of these. Even though I dont drag race it really helps me out also. Cause I can make sure I'm in a certian gear instead of risking of downing into to low of a gear or upshifting to nutreal. But soon it'll be gone though time for a T56

I installed one, and used the relay, and the stock shifter cable. I dont have the car running yet though(hopefully soon) so I am not sure if I got the wiring right. Oh, one thing your instruction sheet has that mine didnt is it tells which set of the plugs on the shifter is the ones on top. I had to guess. I guess I can check it out with that pic you posted

Mine didn't take long to install either. At first I did not install the relay. However, when I got into PROM programming I realized how important this little bugger is. If you DO NOT install the relay the the ECM will not know that the car is in Park or Neutral. The relay drives the P/N switch.

If you can't figure out how to install the B&M shifter then you probably shouldn't be working on cars. It's an easy install and the directions work just fine.

i am asking a very simple question so i don't need any smart remarks. all i want to know is if it matters which switch goes on top and which one goes on the bottom since my switches aren't labeled or anything. i haven't had time to mess with the shifter in a few days since i go to school full time and i have a full time job. i am also in the middle of putting a new trans, starter, torque conv, torque plate, and all that other stuff in at the same time.

The switches are the same. You just have to make sure you hook the wires up right. You have certain wires for the top switch and certain ones for the bottom. But yes, both micro switches are the same.

How do you adjust this sucker, mine is a bear to get into reverse. And does anyone know how to contact B&M for a new shifter boot? Mine is shot!

mine is too. when i am trying to go to reverse from park i have to use so much force that when it finally gives i go all the way to drive then i have to go up to get to reverse. i figured it was the trans. because when i try to manually move the shift lever it is real hard to get out of park. is there anyway to adjust this?
