A '92 RS would be a 10 bolt with either 2.73 or 3.08 with a V-8.
The 3.73's would need to be for a 2 series carrier.

3.73 gears are usually series 3 carrier. You can get a thick 3.73 gear to fit into a series 2 carrier or use a special spacer for the regular gears.
There are 3 different 10 bolts. Third gen use 7.5/7.625". There is also 8.5" and a 8.2" 10 bolts but they were made years before the third gen.

what series your carrier is depends on what gears it was originally equipped with....if you know that any drive line vendors should be able to tell you what carrier it has.....also, almost every f-body ever made has a 10-bolt rear. except for those crazy 9-bolt guys...but they didnt put those in 92's

Whatever you do, DON'T buy the special gears to put 3-series gears on a 2-series carrier. You will end up with a situation where you are stuck with a 2-series carrier for the rest of the life of those gears. They work fine, as far as working goes, no problems there; they just limit your future options to near zero. Much smarter to either buy a 3-series carrier and put it in at the same time, which is no extra work or expense other than the carrier itself; or, if your 2-series is already posi and works good, get a spacer. The SLP posi for $99 is the way to go if you want to buy one, those gears will bolt right up to it.
The sum of $75 plus the SLP posi is less than the price of the speical gears. A spacer is about $60, again, cheaper than the special gears.

no, the 3.73 gears you are picking up are for a 3 series carrier, the SLP posi unit is a 3 series carrier (3.23+). All you need now is the installation kit ( www.summitracing.com ) and your ready to have them installed (no spacer needed, it is only needed if u are trying to put 3 series gears in a 2 series carrier)

You need a kit (Ratech 309TK IIRC), and mabe a pair of axle bearings & seals, and a couple of quarts of Mobil 1 gear lube, and a high-quality 6-point 5/16" box wrench. Don't try to fudge the last one. You'll see what I mean.

i know how you feel, i didnt understand all this stuff when i first started either......
The SLP posi is a 3 series carrier and replaces your 2 series carrier.....now all you need is 3 series gears, an installation kit (i used Ratech's Deluxe installation kit part number RAT-3001K at summitracing.com, $120 it includes everything needed to install new gears and posi + wheel bearings and seals that should be changed anyways because of the age of our cars), and some gear oil (i used RedLine's synthetic oil, part number RED-57904, it is about $8 a quart but you only need 2 quarts). I also bought a new Differential cover from SLP when i bought the posi since the old one was all rusted, it also has a drain plug so that i dont have to drop the cover in order to change the oil.......Hope this all helps
Also, dont expect to do the installation yourself, so you have to factor in the cost of labor, i paid $300 to have mine installed, i guess it really depends on where you live and the shop that is doing it

FYI, you can get the Ratech bearing kit for $90 + shipping from www.thunderracing.com. I just attempted to replace my 3.08 open diff with a used 3.42 posi from eBay, but it was a disaster
To make a long story short, I ended up putting the new bearings on my old gears since the 3.42s simply would not run without massive noise.
