hey guys I have an 89 bird with a 350 and a 5-speed, yes i know its not gonna last but thats not wut i am askin. now i beat the shlt out of thsi car i won't lie, and it used to be hard to get into gear it i took it up to high rpm and tried to shift it, so i thought it wasn't engageing it enough so i shaved a little off te slave cylender so it would engage it more, now it hasn;t acted up since i did that but yesterday i powerbraked it for lik 10 secs then took off spinnin and went to grab secound and it wouldn;t go into gear. so i coasted for liek 100 feet then i went itno gear real hard then liek 3 misn later it was back to normal. also i was stuck in trafic the other day and i put it in nuetral caus ei was sick of holdin the clutch in, then i went to put it back into gear and it grinded and i had to push it in real quick. now my question is, could the brake fluid be heating up and not working right after being abused? also i was thinkin i burned threw the line that connects the master cyl, and the slave cyl. and a mechanic recomended using big rig flexable brake line so i did and it doesn;t leak and is rated ay alot of psi so i dont think its expanding. well if u have any ideal wut u think it might be i woudl appriciate it. thank alot guys

This happens alot in 3rd gen cars. my brother went through, a clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, lines, throw out bearing etc.. in his 86 z28..turned out that the clutch fork was cracked and flexing under pressure from the slave cylinder.....and it would get worse when it was hot, cause the metal softened up ever so slightly. that caused the clutch to drag(still be partially engaged) when you depress the clutch pedal all the way and made it damn near impossible to shift.....

if thats not what it is, then its probably bad synchros in the tranny

im pretty sure he means an air gap in between the exhaust and the slave cylinder, but it should (if it doesnt find a car that has one and get it) have a heat shielf on it......my brother thought that was what was messing his clutch up, same symptons you have....but it turned out to be the clutch fork being cracked. id check that
