9 bolt axle bearings (quick qestion)
9 bolt axle bearings (quick qestion)
I put new axle bearings in when I upgraded the rear brakes. I was told by someone that I need to grease the new axle bearings or it will burn them up when I drive the car(car has not been operational yet. I had another friend that said that in school he was told that you should just lubricate them with what is supposed to be used in it(he said to check into it a little more to be safe). What do I need to do? Will it be fine with just the rear diff fluid?
Thanks

whenever i put in new bearings, seals, or bushings i lube it with either the oil it runs in or lubriplate 105. if you don't it'll burn up before oil makes it's way to it since they aren't part of a preasurized oil system.
Well, I put gear oil on them when I put them in the rear, but that has been a while and it will be another while before I drive it again. If I just jack up one side of the car at a time to run fluid into each axle tube before I drive it will that make sure that they will be lubricated enough?
