cam to gears right?
if you were drag racing you'd want to go thru the traps in high gear at what ever rpm made you max hp, or somewhere close to it. for auto cross or roundy round it'd be something similar. for the street i'd want to be between 2600 and 3500 at 65mph.
ok here is what I have...
87 roller engine 350
ZZ4 cam
Stock L98 cast... ported pretty good though (AFR's Someday)
Edelbrock intake (ported)
Edelbrock runners
everything port matched
custom chip
I haven't swapped the engine yet... I am waiting to see how much cash flow is come spring.... I need a new T-5 soon... popping out of gear..
but my 305 is making good power aswell.. so it might be transmission work next year.. I just wanna make sure I have the right gears when I cross the line...
I am crossing the line now at about 3500 in 4th... at 96.87 mph
14.5 1/4 mile and a 2.225 60' time
hope this helps

are you concerned with fuel economy? streetability? how about cruising speeds on the highway... will you be on the highway much, and how fast do you cruise?
better to match the gearing to how you drive the most, with the cams powerband second. if i geared my car for my cam I would have 4.11 in the rear. very, very, very bad for fuel economy and streetability. the ZZ4 cam makes good mid-range torque, and depending on the induction setup (intake/heads) you may find that 3.42's are actually perfect. 3.73s MIGHT give you a little more, but if you like to drive on the street, the ZZ4 cam will hold its own with 3.42s. I note you have edelbrock runners, those are good for mid-range too. i would say stick to 3.42's.
