Ok my 700r4 is acting up I know its just a matter of time before it goes south. It has ~120k on it now and the shifts arent to great anymore + no 2-3 shift at WOT.
Should I get this trans rebuilt with a higher stall and my trans-go shfit kit that I never put in or should I swap in a th350.
I will be doing this around income tax time and should have at least 1400$ at the time.
I know I will need a new driveshaft if I get the th350 that has the 6'' tailshaft but thats no biggie I wanted to change that anyways. I also know I will need the kit that b&m sells for the swap.
I will be doing all the install work myself but not the rebuilding of course.
I am planning world sportsman II heads and a comp cam extreme energy 282 cam in the future so I will need a tranny that can take some abuse.

Yeah I saw your site. How much HP are the street/strip 700r4s good for? Also do you get a converter or anything? Pretty pricey tranny.

The first and overdrive gears are just too sweet to do without. You MUST keep the 700r4

if you daily drive it, or highway drive it, stick to overdrive. you pay a much higher price in the beginning, but the result is less engine wear/less fuel useage/more fun from stop lights. and dont skimp on the converter either, a crappy converter can Xplode and take out a tranny. get a 9.5" lockup. Dana from pro-built will send you in the right direction.
if you drag race the 1-2 is better with a th350 and BIG plus you can buy 2or 3 th350s for 1 700r4

If money isn't a problem, the question is: how much do you plan to drive on the highway? I had a th350 for a while, but sold it to my dad for his 70 chevy short wide we are rebuilding. 3.73's yield 3000 rpm at 60 mph with the th350. Those same 3.73's yield 2150 rpm at 60 mph with a 700r4--much nicer. 80 mph interstate driving is even more of an improvement.
