clutch disengagement problem

here's the story: i have a new clutch master cylinder, line, and slave cylinder. all with less than 200 miles on them. i was driving home in traffic just now, and my clutch pedal stopped about 1/2 inch above where it normally stops. slowly but surely that spot kept moving up as i was driving home, now on open roads. when i got to my house it was so bad that it stopped about 1/4 inch after the clutch disengaged. i cant push it down any further, if i force it i will break that damn new master cylinder. any ideas?

wow thats weird.....i dont know if this applies cause it was a little different,

my brothers 86 z28 had a clutch that wouldnt disengage....he changed everything, master cylinder, slave, lines, clutch, etc, and it still did the same thing.

turned out the clutch fork had a hairline crack in it and was bending under force....

maybe its something in that area thats causing the problem.....its a strange one though

i was thinking that, too. but i looked under my dash yesterday, and i noticed something weird. on the rod that goes into the master cylinder, there is a white piece of plastic floating freely on it. its about 3/4 inch long with a lip on the end facing me, and one of the sides has a chunk missing from it. it looks like it might have gone in the clutch master. any ideas what might have caused this?
