vss probs

my vss went out about 1.5 years ago. i replaced it with a new one from GM. i noticed my spedo wasent working once it started to get colder. and now it being full blown winter it dosent work. it starts to work once the tranny warms up (700r4). And the needle bounces as if its a older cable operated one thats loose. (mines electronic, 90 camaro RS, sorry). this is starting to **** me off, i dont live too far from the bar and i dont know how fast im going when im trying to make it home. any help would be appreciated!

Since its a '90 w/ electric speedo, then there are only four components that pertain to the VSS: Speed sensor, ECM, Speedometer, and the wiring that connects it all. The Speed Sensor sends an AC Signal to the ECM. The ECM has an internal VSS Buffer to turn the AC Signal into a Digital signal and sends that info to the Speedometer. I can't see anything in the tranny not working untill warm, especially since the speed sensor is new (you did replace it, right?). Sounds to me like it might be an ECM problem. Does it set a code 24? I'd find somebody w/ a 1227730 ECM to borrow and take it for a spin around the block.
