700r4 Shifting Question

I've had two thirdgens with 700r4's, and I'm unhappy that my newer one doesn't shift like the other one and I think something's not right.

Here goes - on my 1st one, for example, when cruising in OD anywhere over 40, I could put throttle down maybe 1/3-2/3 and it would downshift once, past that it would downshift twice for a kick in the pants type acceleration, compared to one gear down.

On my new one, tho - in the same situation I can almost NEVER get it to downshift twice and some of the time (very little but it happens) not at all, like stays in OD. I really want that OD to 2nd gear kick in the pants again!

I pushed back the TV cable as far as I could like everybody says to do and I had somebody suggest to me to make sure the TPS is adjusted right. I haven't been able how to figure out how to work the voltimeter to do it yet tho. Are there any other things I can try to get this to work again? Thanks!

What year trannys are we trying to compare and what has been done to either one? "Shift Kits", incorrect governers, and other things can effect that. If one has something the other doesn't or is of a different genre (first design -vs- second design) then your comparing apples to oranges.

90 700r4 (1st car) versus 92 700r4 (new car), both have been rebuilt but nothing special, not BUILT just rebuilt. The 1st car was just rebuilt after it failed on me, the new car's was rebuilt right before i got the car, the previous owner said something about the guy "drilling a hole or two in the plate to allow more fluid to flow through for longevity". I can understand if its something inside the tranny thats causing the difference, but i was just looking for anything outside the tranny that needs to be adjusted right before I start cracking it open, ya know?

Well, I guess we won't know exactly what the guy did besides "drill some holes larger". I guess my next question would be at what speeds and RPM did they both shift at, at WOT?
