Installing Trans Cooler

Ready to install my plate-type transmission cooler. J/W where you guys mounted yours? Also, I would like to tap into the line as it exits the radiator, instead of before it enters. I figured this way it would cool it down as it returns, instead of cooling and then just heating it up. But, I do not know which one is the entrance and exit.
Any pics would be helpful. Thanks in advance

Trans fluid flows into the lower port on the radiator cooler and comes out the top.

Another note, a good plate type cooler will have no problems keeping your tranny cool. My tranny fluid has never gone over 200' even in the worst of summer racing or stop and go abuse, and thats with a heavy car, 3k stall converter and the big 28k lb GVW B&M cooler.

I mention that because skipping the factory cooler has a benefit. You don't have to worry about the factory cooler rotting out and ruining your transmission. The downside is it is impossible to get any heat at all into my tranny, good thing i bought a second car for the winter this year. If i didn't, i would be routing through the plate type cooler and then using the factory cooler to stabilize/warm the tranny temp somewhat

I have a plate cooler also and I installed it so that the fluid goes into the factory cooler first and then the aftermarket cooler. I mounted mine in front of the radiator right in the center (I took out my AC condenser). The first time I installed it, I left it mounted more on the left side (looking from the front) of the radiator and noticed that the coolant was running at a higher temp. I took the cooler out again and remounted it in the center of the radiator and the temp went down.

Pix of my install here that if they were decent pix you could see both of my plate style coolers; one for oil on the drivers side, the other for the tranny on the pax side.

Oh yeah, i forgot to mention. Mine is mounted on the driver's side of the radiator and basically covers half of it. I put it there to make sure it gets max airflow possible through the fog light hole at speed, and also, my primary fan is the driver's side, so whenever my fan comes on it also is cooling my tranny too. If you leave your cooler in the center or on the pass. side when you are sitting in traffic it isn't doing a damn thing since no air is moving over it.

I have a fan switch and the only fan that's ever on is the passenger side fan or the secondary fan. My main fan never comes on unless it's so hot outside that the secondary fan can't cool enough. I haven't seen that happen yet though. My cooler is big enough so that when the fan is running, both the radiator and cooler get airflow.

OK, so you use a fan switch on your secondary fan, that's cool because you're still making sure that whenever you are using a fan, your cooler is getting help too. I just wanted to point out that you need to consider that when you install it, not everyone would think of that. And since not everybody uses the secondary fan as the primary.... My fans are prgrammed in the computer so i use my primary at the temps i want.
