Road Racing T5
I know that the A sedan class in SCCA has been popular for some time now, and I know that at least some of the 3rd Gen's used T5's. I'd like to find a board member who has built and raced a T5, I've got some general questions. Also, since I'm pretty new to this forum, if there are any old articles or postings about this, please let me know (also how to find it, I have trouble finding some of the old topics & post its) Thanks, Mike

I believe the racers were looking for World Class T5s but I think SCCA now allows the use of a Tremec TKO. You can also run a 4 speed from the early thirdgens.
you can go to www.scca.org and buy a GCR rule book, it will tell you all the specs. Now is a good time to buy also because it's the new year and it has been updated. There may be some info on that site also if you don't want the book.

Thanks for the reply, I've got a copy of the SCCA rules. I'm just a poor boy trying to find the best way build a T5 for autocross. A Tremec is way outside my budget (as is a T56). I know I may break the T5 (more money down the drain). But I'm trying to find some one who has actually road raced a T5 in hopes I can get some tips on building one. Thanks
for auto-x i would stick with a T5. all tremec transmissions are real hard to shift and hard find the gear you want, while a T5 just slips through the gears. i read an article a while back about mustang guys ditching there tremec's for T5 b/c it's just too hard to shift.

Thanks for the replys. I've checked out The Gear Zone, Forrte's, G-Force, and Hanlon Motorsports, all sell some stuff for T-5's. But I'd like to talk to a road racer or autocrosser who has actually built one for himself. If anybody know's of one, please let me know. Thanks
this is what i got from moderndriveline.com
The T-5 you have now should handle about 400hp as it is torque rated for 330ft/ibs of torque. There is not much you can do to upgrade it. How are you planning to use the car?

I use it for daily driving and occasional autocross. I've got a TPI ZZ4 350 in it with a Comp Cams 218/224-.495/.503 cam. I have a V6 T5 in it right now, and want to build another T5 for the car and keep the V6 T5 as a spare. I'm not worried about horsepower because I've still got MAF; I am worried about torque; I may have over 400 ft lbs. Most of the autocross courses are nearly 100% 2nd gear, with some occasional 2-3-2 shifts. I've got 2:77 gears and sticky tires for autocross. I'm concerned that I will tear 2nd gear out of it. I do agree with some of the comments, the T5 really shifts nice; it's a pleasure for daily driving.
