Ok... I got this deal on a set of new ES PolyUrethane Bushings (I paid like $5.00 for it)

The package states...

ES P/N 3.1109G

Transmission Crossmember Bushings
82-92 Camaro/Firebird with Secondary Crossmember


I bought them because they were new and they were cheap (new price for these according to Summit is $18.00)...but for the life of me I don't know where this Secondary Transmission CrossMember is located on my car... even if my car came equipped with one! LOL...

Anybody know if certain 3rd gen's got this secondary xmember? Ie: IROC's? GTA's? 1LE equipped cars? Firebirds? Camaro's? Z28's? RS's? LT's? Automatic trannies? Manual Tranny's??

hehehe... I may have a part that is useless to me but I have a lot of thirdgen buds so it might be good for them... and if that doesn't pan out I can always put it up on eBay and double my money If I can use it I certainly will!!

And before you say " Sure just look under your car" ... my car is in storage and it's not easily accessible (involves a ferry ride and some other great adventures! lol)

 

I couldn't say what all cars got them or didn't... but my 83 HO Z28 has them.

 

isn't that one of those parts that GM put on certain cars without any rhyme or reason, or any kind of discernable pattern, other than whenever they felt like it?

i have a total of three crossmembers all from 84's


v8 auto had it, camaro
v6 auto did not, firebird
4cyl manual had it, firebird

 

What is a secondary x-member?

I had an 84 and don't remember anything special about the trans x-member...

Anyone have pics?

I have never seen one of those...until now...

If I was going to keep my auto trans...I would not use one anyway... Another point for flex in the system...

 

I'm pretty sure most MSEs had em.

 

Ah ok thats the Xmember that was supposed to fit my 200c to 700r swap that dident work lol. Useless POS just like the one brace they put over the blower motor from the firewall to the fender on some cars.

 

I always wondered what that bar was for...
