Hi, i know a 4th gen rearend is 4inches wider than a thirdgen, i know they will bolt right up, but do the tires really stick out that far, and how does it look, thanks

They really look like they stick out about 2" on each side. IMHO, they look like the result of putting positive-offset RWD wheels on a Festiva. Stupid and juvenile and ignorant. But that's just me.
Of course you can put the right wheels for the rear end on there, then they fit right.

Of course it will. How can it not? Go out and look at your car, and see if there's clearance to move the tires out 2".
To me, it looks like what the r¡cers do to their little econobox grocery carts. It is not approperiate to true fast car. It looks like someone who didn't know what they're doing has been there. It's in the same class of things as rear wings the size of a park bench on front-wheel-drive cars: all "image", and a hill-jack image at that, that displays no understanding of what the mods are supposed to do, or what makes a car fast.

does it rub the fenders? If your springs are crappy and you lack bumpstops, it probably will rub, otherwise, no. And no it doesn't look like the neons with the 12" wheels that stick out 5 inches and ruin ball joints

I'm not going to lie to you, mine has rubbed before, but that's because my spring's worn and I don't have a bumpstop, plus my sway bar's not hooked up. Mine rubbed with 245's on it. I just switched to 235's and it only rubbed once. My friend's rear has NEVER rubbed, and he has Eibach lowering springs (graebz28). I'm sure as soon as I fix the springs, it won't rub anymore, but I'll keep you posted.

if you get wheels with the right backspacing. i.e. stock 4thgen wheels, then you won't have any problems at all because the wheels won't stick out.
Laegion- are you sure about that? cause i'm wanting to get some 4th Gen 'SS' 10 spoke wheels and i dont want to have to deal with spacers and all that jazz if anyone has any pictures or advice, i'd appreciate it

He is right.
The 4th gen rear is longer, but the wheels are offset inward by the exact same amount. So a 4th gen rear with 4th gen wheels will fit a 3rd gen perfectly.
If you swap a 4th gen rear into your car, that's the best thing to do: get a set of rear wheels for 4th gen. Or get a whole set, and a pair of spacers for the fronts.
