T5 questions...

Hey. I need a T5 for my 91 305 RS that I bought last Monday. I was gonna pull it and try to rebuild but when I moved the car TWICE today (due to my stupid dad) I heard the crash of death. DAMN a T5 is loud when it comes apart. Now on to the question...

Theres a guy on ebay selling a T5 from a 92 (I think) S-10 pick up. He states that its a WORLD CLASS T5 and that it should bolt to a small block with no probs. Is this true? If so, what would I have to change/modify? If not, does anyone have a good T5 for sale? Email me if you can answer the LAST question.

Thanks!

Far as I know the WC T-5 came on 88-92 camaros, so if this guy is selling what he says he is, you should be OK. Unless of course S-10s have a different trans or bellhousing or something weird.
Anybody else?

Can always do a search---

S 10 4.3 bellhousings are the same but ANY other S10 motor has a different bellhousing. Buy a book and rebuild it yourself---it's pretty easy if you go slow. Besides if you plan on keeping the car it is a skill you will need (my buddy can do the whole job now in a hour and a half)lol.

Shifter location on a S10 T5 (to my understanding) is about 10 inches forward from an F body T5 shifter. Also beware of e-bay transmissions; the last two I looked at the seller said it had a 10 spline input shaft which I don't think chevy ever used.

OK... after HOURS of searching...

Cant use the S-10 unit. Different 1st gear ratios, different shifter locations, different spline count, and the fact that the Camaro unit is tipped over at an angle.

Oh well. The hunt continues...

Get the T5 video from www.hanlonmotorsports.com for $17, then using the video as a guide, take your trans apart and assess the damage, then make a decision as to fix or replace it. Replacing broken gears can get real expensive in a hurry.
