Best Tremec TKO shifter
Best Tremec TKO shifter
Ok folks, i've decided what i'm buying myself for my birthday. I will be getting a Shifter for my TKO. The question is which is the best and why. i am looking for the shortest throws, with adjustable stops I don't want something with really strong centering springs, this is not exclusively for drag racing. My old hurst from my t5 had adjustable spring tension and i found i could shift better with the softer springs. I know Hurst, B&M, pro 5.0, and steeda make shifters. what is you opinion/experience been??

I got the Hurst on my TKO, but the threads are stripped (bought it that way). I have my stock T-5 **** on the stripped threads and it works great. I like the throw and vertical adjustability of the Hurst. It is much shorter than the T-5 but doesn't seem (From memory) as short as the T-56 Hurst.

when i first got my hurst shifter for the t5 i set it up as it came with both centering springs on each side. i figured it was better for drag racing. i guess it is but years later i took one pring from each side and discovered i could shift up and down much smoother and faster for normal driving. I was very pleased. Thats what i'm worried about, rowing through traffic for 2 hours a day, and being able to down shift quickly and smoothly. In my opinion stiff springs are only good for very aggressive upshifting, it gets tiresome otherwise.
