Tranny on way out?
Tranny on way out?
Here's the story: Bought the car last June. 88 Camaro, 2.8 V6, 200R4 Transmission. The car had been in an accident (I fixed it) and had not been driven for a year. Got it cheap, brought it home and noticed that the transmission fluid was low. So I filled it, and continued to watch it until I could get the transmission serviced. Had it serviced in December and my guy told me that the fluid was burnt and that there was metal in the pan. I know, not good.
Anyway, still driving the car and it shifts ok. . . goes into the gears good with a little more kick than it should when shifting into drive, reverse, etc. On the highway it does fine, sometimes a little bit of a delay when it should shift, but not bad at all. Had it slip a total of 3X only when going up a hill at a slow speed, very slight.
I just recently started to notice a noise/vibration right under my feet where the pedals are. Feels like the transmission is making a moaning noise? Somebody else has to have had the same noise happen to them.
Anyway, here are my questions:
-I know this thing could go any day, month, months, etc. In the meantime, anything I can do to prolong the life of the transmission?
-I know the car has a 200R4 Transmission. Does a 700R4 bolt up, or does something need to be modified?
Any other insight would be helpful. Thanks alot!

Car: 1991 Corvette Coupe
Engine: L98
Transmission: 700R4/4L60 same trans different name
200-4R's never came in a bolt pattern that fit the 60* V6
the came with either a BOP bolt pattern or a dual bolt pattern (BOP & Chevy 90*)
so your being told wrong information about your car
you might have a 200c tranny, but since its an 88 i dont see why somebody would make such a downgrade

hence, its a weaker unit, thats why it was used with the smaller V6 (60*) engines in small trucks and RWD cars
only 700R4 with that came behind 60* V6's (and i think RWD 4 cylinders) will work
no adapter can be made because of the totally different shape and size of the bellhousings
so, in other words, look for a 700R4 from a 2.8, 3.1 or even a 1993 3.4 (94 went to the 4L60E), thats the easiest thing to do without driving yourself nuts
