manual 5th gear throw problem
Ok, I think I figured out why my transmission throws out its 5th gear. Im pretty sure that because it was recently stuck in 5th gear, back in november, and I think that the gears are worn. The tranny will hold the gear for about 5 seconds, the snap it out. It wont pop all the way out, just enough so it wont engage itself. My question is where do I find the gear for the 5th gear action and how much do you think the parts would cost to fix it? It is a really big pain in my but! What ever you know, help would be most appreaciated!

If you are going to pull the trans anyway, it would be a real good idea to just go ahead and rebuilt it. If your car is a 92 as in your sig, then you have a WC trans, and those kits runs about ?$150.
Your best bet is to get the T5 video from hanlon motorsports www.hanlonmotorsports.com for $17. Then tear your trans apart using the video as a guide to inspect for worn parts. If the trans is popping out of 5th, you could have a cracked/broken shift fork, worn gears, etc. The video goes into depth about inspecting the parts for wear and damage in the trans.
I'd get the video, tear the trans apart, inspect for damage and price the replacement parts, then make a decision as to whether to repair or replace the trans. Depending on what is damaged in the trans, replacement gears can get expensive. But don't buy anything other than the video until you get it apart and assess the problem.
If you do decide to repair the trans, hanlon is a good source for parts. They may not be the cheapest, but they have the tech suppost behind the parts to make it worth paying a few extra $$$ purchasing from them.
Here is a link to a hanlon page about a T5.

You might also want to consider upgrading your shifter. I put a Hurst billet plus in my car and it's one of the best mods I've ever done. I got mine from summit for $165. A worn or bad shifter could also be a contributing factor to your 5th gear problem if it won't fully engage the gears.
