just what everybody wanted, another 700r4 question... I just picked up this 85 firebird, it's kinda been hacked up a little. the tranny doesn't work quite right, what exactly happens when the torque converter doesn't lock up? do you just loose overdrive?

that should have nothing to do with it

from what i understand (and i may as well b wrong).......the torque converter wont really affect if your car shifts into overdrive or not........what happens when the torque converter locks up is that your car SHOULD b cruising along at a constant speed and the TC will lock up and make a 1:1 ratio from the motor to the tranny, which makes you get better gas mileage and reduces heat................so i dont think its your torque converter with the problem.............
