Weird that you say that, my girlfriends 94 camaro did the same thing and someone else mentioned that alot of camaros do that. It was almost like her shifter was wanting to fall apart. I dont know what it is but I heard of it happening alot , good luck.

Her problem was the cable to the shifter but her dad fixed it eventually. My guess would be sometihng is loose or its the cable because my b&m shifter needs the cable tightened up which makes it hard to shift manually.

'88, you might also need to replace the shifter cable for that B&M. I had a hard time shifting the thing- and I don't baby the shift handle, either.

Read the end of this message: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=122029

And read this message too: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=126924 I think Dr.G didn't read the message all the way, because like I said in it, yes, it made all the other gears easier, too.

Yeah, shifter problems are caused by the cable about 95% of the time.

Replace the cable before you do anything else, then go from there if it still isn't right.

Thank you, I was told to put the cable on one of the different settings on the trans "the 3 holes"and it would be fixed. My shifter feels like it has a huge gap in it when I pull it down to 1st is that a symptom of a bad line or does that sound like the 3 hole thing?
