slop in my 9 bolt
well i gotta do somethin the car will be on the road in a matter of a couple weeks. i have some play in my rearend, if i go to reverse and load the drivetrain then i go to first and start to let the clutch out its like clunk, im 99% sure its not the U joints seeing it didnt do anything like this 4 hours before i changed the rearends. i dont know what to do, i guess the only thing to do is pull the diff cover and do a pattern check to see how the gears are meshing then shim it to speck, plan on puttin in a HD brake cone for the posi while im in there and possibly the spider gears if they are worn. anyone else have this problem, im worried aobut driving it liek this, i wanna take it to the track when its done but i dont want it to put its guts all over the track on me.

Are you sure the u-joints fasteners are tight? Also any other suspension mount stuff too. If that noise is coming from the differential unit, it's likely going to take more than adjusting the gear pattern to fix it.

Remove the rubber plug on the cover and fill to the hole. I personally use valvoline non synthetic with GM limited slip additive.

80W-90, just like all others. I also use(d) the Valvoline with the GM additive.

alright im leanin towards a spider/ axle gear problem. i noticed when i go one wheel spin, its really notchy, feels like binding and clunkyness like the spider and axle gears are shredded and dont mesh right. this would probably cause my "banging" noise in the rear tooo
well is there anyway to see the spider gears in a 9 bolt with the diff cover off or do u have to take apart the carrier?
