Will a 700r4 out of a 4th-gen work?

My 700r4 on my 91 Formula crapped out on me, I may be able to get a 93 Z28 700r4 with racing clutches and B&M shift kit, will it bolt up and fit properly and work correctly? Or is it completely different?

i believe that the 93' was the last year for the 4L60(non electronic version) if i'm not mistaken. That one you can use. 94'+ are 4L60E (electronic version). You cannot use these.

someone else like to prove/disprove what i heard?

You are correct. '93 was the transitional year. Trucks got the electronic version (4L60-E) and F-cars got the old version (4L60). In 1994, it was 4L60-E across the board.

As far as compatability, I think they are 100% the same. I don't remember what a 4th gen tailshaft looks like, but that would be the only difference.

the torque arm bushing mount on both trannies will work with his third gen torque arm; just use the right bushing for the front end of the torque arm.

Also, I think the 93 f-bodies still had a mechanical gear driven VSS, but I could be wrong. Even if not, you can slip your plastic gear onto the output shaft.

Good luck w/ the swap.
