WOT in 4th after Transgo installation??

Guys,
I just installed the Transgo 'Reprogramming Kit' in my '86 700r4.
It works very well and and I am very happy with the results.
One minor issue is that now when in OD and above about 55mph it will not kick down to 3 when I give it WOT?? This is not really a problem, I can always pull the stick back to 3, but just wondering if is normal?? I didn't expect it to do this.
Thanx,
Ben.

Are you sure it used to before? I was under the impression that only the RPO B4C option had O/D Kickdown, I could be wrong though. I too have an 86 z28 and my 700 never did that before I put my Transgo shift kit in. Now my I'm kind of curious about it. Anybody else know the answer.

Yeah, before the Transgo kit it used to kickdown to 3rd too easily it was almost annoying having it unlock the convertor and kickdown every time I gave it just a bit more pedal!! Mines in a corvette tho, i don't know if they are set up differently??

As it turns out, stock 700R's do have a 4-3 kickdown, if you still have the instructions on the shift kit, on page 9, it shows 2 places in the Valve Body where you plug the holes. If I'm not mistaken, those are the reason that it won't downshift. It's step C, page 9 in case you still have the instructions.

Are you sure?? The reason I didn't expect the kit to do this is because on the 'Goodies' page is a special 4th valve (optional extra) that does this.. Ah hang on, it provides WOT upshift to 4th, is that the same as preventing kickdown?? I'll have to go for a drive and see if it holds 3rd at WOT.. Maybe it will hold 3rd at WOT, but once in OD it won't kickdown???

Also, those 'plugs' on page 9 actually have a .063" hole in them..

If I remember right, I do believe those plugs had those holes in it, and as far as the 4th valve option, I think you're right in saying that it will let the tranny shift to 4th at WOT as where now, the kit should hold on to 3rd until you let off. If you are wanting to get the kickdown back, there is a member here you PM. I think his name is Pro Built Automatics. He knows everything there is to know about trannies and how to get them to work right.

Actually the B4C let the tranny shift into OD at WOT. It had a modified upshift valve as it was called. The regular transmissions shifted from 4th back down to 3rd if you pressed the accelerator more than about 1/2 throttle.

Yeah, Pro-Built is awesome. He decked my new 700-r4 out with the WOT upshift into 4th gear and he blocked the downshift so I can use 100% throttle in 4th without a kick down.

I was under the inpression that the corvette was able to shift into OD at wide open throttle.
