i have a newly rebuilt 700r4 tranny with a little stiffer 2nd gear and a corvette servo. well i was wondering if it was supposed to kick down if u mash the gas at a stand still? it seems to accelerate slower than it should. it will kick down and take off like a scared rabbit at about 50+ mph's but at a stand still it just seems slow. i have had alot of linkage problems on my edelbrock carb so could that be it? and what would be some symptoms of having the wrong torque converter? thanks alot

Does it accelerate normally in manual 1st? Will it kickdown to 1st
in manual 2nd? Is the tranny a different one than when it ran good? As for the TV cable adjustment, check out www.tvmadeez.com. If TV adjustment still doesn't seem right,
check out Part 3 of tvmadeez.com and do a line pressure check.

If it's at a stand still it's supposed to be in first, so what would it "kick down" to?

it shifts fine it just doesnt eccelerate very fast, would a different torque converter fix that? i guess it shouldnt shift down since it is in 1st, but what about the torque converter?

also i had a tv cable that was too long and it shifted like crap, i got the right one along with a tv cable corrector since i have an edelbrock, and i have it all set up so the cable is strait from the linkage and it adjusts right and everything

Pressure gauge
I used a couple of grease gun hoses, an 1/8"pipe coupler and a
300lb. with a 1/4npt to 1/8npt adapter. About $25.00 for all.

in order to set the tv cable you just push the D button and push that black piece that sticks out all the way back so its flush with the bracket, then have someone in the car push the pedal to the floor while you are holding the "d" button right? and it should be set? iv read some posts and they talk about a govoner conversion kit or somethin like that will help the problem? also do you know how far the little button on the carb linkage (where the tv cable buttons to) should be from the black end of the tv cable?

i found out today that when i set my detent cable before that i let go of the throttle and let it go back to idle position and then released the D button, well today i moved the bracket that holds the cable forward about 1/4 of and inch because i thought it was pulling it too much at idle, so i did that and set it correctly and now it shifts very firm and crisp and it will take off a whole lot faster, i cant really tell if it will kick down in 2nd but as soon as i got into 2nd i mashed the gas and it reved to like 3k and took off like a scared rabbit and it didnt bog at all! and at 55 you can deffinately hear adn feel it shift and take off. was this my problem or do i still need to do a pressure test? thanks alot for your help and all that info Nordbert!
