T56 in my 1989 Firebird is it possible
Okay im sick of my 4 speed automatic behind my 305 tbi the automatic really makes the 305 slower than it already is and the trans is starting to slip after the 1st to 2nd shift and ive seen prices for a rebuild's around $900 and up so i figure why not put a manual 6 speed and run 4.11 in the rear so has anybody put a 6 speed in there thirdgen. That would be the coolest thing 6 speed with 4.11's with a 350 supercharged engine. Also what kind of price am i looking at.

Is it possible? Yes
Cost - Look around, if you do your own labor and get some deals i'd be around 2k after buying the 4:11's, transmission, pedals, shifter, etc etc... thirdgenresource.com and your local pull n save!

That can only be answered if you can calculate how much a 5-speed car is worth to you, versus how much a 6-speed in your car is worth to you.
If (5-speed car) < (6-speed in your car); put a 6-speed in.
If (5-speed car) > (6-speed in your car); buy a car w/ a 5-speed already in it.
Also...the page in the Tech Articles section was written by someone who did the swap. I also did a T56 swap using notes gathered from using the Search button here, as well as Google...nothing you can't find if you spend a few minutes.

$1200 for the used T56 and parts, $120 for the new clutch disc, $35 to machine the flywheel, $130 for the crossmember, $20 for the two electrical connectors, ~$75 for the Dakota Digital VSS converter, ~15 hours of my time to install it...definitely worth it.
If I had to pay a shop to do the install, it would have likely doubled the price and put the total cost out of reason.

Many people will say it is worth if because of the fun factor. However, the way you do the swap, how you like driving a stick, and the way you drive it will all determine if its worth it. Its a personal opnion to say if its worth it or not.
Unless you have a 2.73 rear, I would first start out with swaping trannys first. Just make things less complicated.
One question is if you are willing to buy it used. It will be consideralby cheaper, but their is always the change you may get one that doesn't work all that great.
If you are going to buy used, places to buy one are thirdgenresource.com, speedautomotive.com, and any local junkyards.
Heres some parts I needed. Your parts will differ because you'll need a 1-piece rear main seal and you will be able to use the lt1 flywheel. Could someone reassure me that his engine is a 1 piece rear main seal?
