Ballstud Thread

In V8 bellhousings, 1982 and 1983 used a different ballstud than 1984 - 1992. What's the thread on the 82-83 ballstud? I went to a couple tool place and they couldn't figure it out. Said it "might be NPT!" which I kinda doubt

i don't know, but was thinking either 7/16 or 1/2 stud size you can tell fine or course by looking. it's not pipe, that's a safe bet for sure.

Matthew, I wish I could help you, but I sold my belhousing a few months ago. What is the problem? Have you tried taking the offending member to a farm implement dealer like John Deere
or other industrial supply house and matched up the threads?
They could also be something like 16MMx2MM or other metric size.

I'm going to go to a bolt supply place here that's really good (but has a $10 min. order . I s'pose I could try a farm supply place too. I'll post pics of the measurements of it in a bit

ede,

curious, what makes it "not pipe thread for sure" I went to the good bolt place today, same "might be pipe thread" again. I thought pipe thread was tapered to provide a "stop" so to speak, while on a ballstud, the stop is provided by the ring at the base of the ballstud.

Thanks guys. I still need this figured out. Here's a couple pics of one I bought from the dealer a long time ago for an 83.
