ok i don't know jack about tranny's so here goes nothing...
Bought this torque converter for cheap and didn't even think to count the splines, fluid is clean and doesn't smell burnt. I'm counting 24 with space for 27 splines, but like i said i don't know jack about tranny's. So before its off to the classified section i want to make sure i can't use it.
So thats Q#1 is this a 30 or 27 spline converter.
Other Q's i have, When i'm done with my engine i'll probably have around/under 300hp at the wheels (hopefully). My dad says he can get a tranny shop type rebuild kit for a little over $100, he's ase certified, but doesn't know anything about performance, just look at his emaculate 79 el camino SS thats bone stock... Anyway my tranny has no problems right now and i'm looking at having the car down for a few weeks anyway, as i install headers, refinish my rims, and some other things. I've also got a transgo shift kit to install on it. My cars at 122,000 miles on the original tranny and won't shift 2nd to 3rd sometimes.
Q#2 should i shell out $100 for a rebuilt tranny and chance any complications, or should i just go with the stock tranny with the transgo shift kit.
Thanks for your time and Opinions are welcome.
