Shift hestitation th700r4

OK as some of you might know, some german autobahns are free of a speed limit. And well, what does a 'Roc driver do? Right.

After a little pause I was happy to see that my SES light with a code 42 was gone. But instead of the SES light I got another problem.
I was on my way with 100mph OD, and made a full acceleration.. Of course, it shifted down, but those RPMs went higher and higher until it reached 4000, but then it would do no more. Refused to shift, and the RPMs didn't rise. Like there was a speed limiter. Second try, out of D, into OD, car wouldn't go over 4000...

Went off the road, turned engine off and back on, and the SES light was there again but the car made its usual 144 miles at est. 4000RPM.. (230kmh).. Problem was gone.

I wonder if this is because of the SES light and my ECM is messed up or what could this be???

TIA..........

Did it make a sound like it was bouncing off the rev limiter, but not so loud? If so, you hit the speed limiter.

... in the documents of my car is signed that the max. speed is 230kmh, 143mph....
and german car checking offices dont write **** into those papers... and the strange thing is that is DOES go those 143mph, but only with my SES light on!!

hey

well are you sure you were in fourth gear? when i first had my car it used to max out around 100mph in 3rd at whatever rpm. i learn that theres a kickdown or something on the 700r4. it means that the car won't shift into fourth when it is floored. next time, wait till you get up to the situation you described above(car maxes out) then let the gas pedal out about half way, then hammer it again. you should take off again in fourth gear till you hit about 140...then you will be near maxed out. worked for me.

BTW: that was in OD, don't know if D would be different..

don't attempt this on twisty bumpy roads...lthe car can get very light on the wheels!

The car won't go into O/D when the throttle is above 75%

And another thing I discovered on the Autobhan, the cruise won't engage above 100 mph....strange.

hehe, yes, i was sure to be in 4th, because i tried that both from out of D and OD.

about the kickdown thing, yes that works for me as well.
but again, only with the SES light on. guys, i'm not fooling you. i come to the conclusion that something must be badly wrong with my ECM. i'm waiting for a new one to arrive, should come this week.

ps: i'm only trying this on autobahns... those are always mostly as straight as a plane field.

Transgo makes a 4th shift valve kit that allows the trans toshift into 4th at wot, It fits 1981-1988 valve bodies, you will need to get a 88 valve body and have it modified to fit your 89. Transgo p.n.7-4-V

does anyone have one of these? how hard are they to put in and how much do they cost? is this the same thing as a b&m kickdown kit with part number 70237?
