Tranny guage question

Okay i just got an Autometer Ultra Lite Trans temp gauge and in the instructions they said u have to drill a hole in the tranny pan. is there any other place to mount this or will mounting it on the pan be the best place to do so?

You may get the most accurate measurement there in the pan, however, I have thought of mounting the sender in the tranny coolant lines. Now if you have a manual transmission then the pan is about the only option. I want to mount my sender in the tranny coolant lines but I don't know what size the fittings are and such to do it properly and get the right parts.

There is a plug in the side of the transmission that is the same size and the fitting that comes with the temp gauge. My buddy put his there and it seems to work pretty good.

I was looking at that in my manual. It says that the fittings are 1/8" and 1/4". I should try that.

I know it is there on the 700R4 and the 4L60E. I'm not sure about a manual.

It is on the drivers side IIRC on the 700R4.
