700R-4 Vibrations/slipping?
The trans was rebuilt by a shop with supposidly upgraded parts, corvette servo etc. After that I rev's too high in 1st and flared the sun casing, and they rebuilt it again.
I put a 355 infront of it instead of the 305 that used to be behind it.
This 700R4 is out of an '85 Iroc, and is now in an '87 Iroc.
If I am cruising along at say 25-35mph... and lay the hammer, once in a while when it shifts down, it wont go into the gear and it seems like it slips and I have to let off the gas to get it into gear. This never happens in say a 1/4mi pass, just when mashing from a speed.
Also, sometimes instead of just reving higher and not going into the gear, it will act like it's ALMOST in gear and I'll get this horrible vibration. Again having to let off.
I wasn't too worried about this because I just don't mash it like that anymore, however I've got a set of Pro Topline Heads, and a Holley Stealth Ram coming... and am concerned about how it's going to hold up.
The fluid is full, red, and doesn't smell burnt.
Is it maybe getting too hot? Should I install a tranny cooler? Maybe its the TC and I should get one with a higher stall to go faster in the quarter anyway?
HELP?!
