200C to 700-R4 - Cable question
I'm planning on swapping out my 200C tranny for a 700-R4. I know that there have been a few people who have also dont this swap and was just wondering if the TV cable and Speedometer cable from the 200C will work with the 700-R4?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Nevermind...I got an excellent PM answer from smoove2022:
Use the speedo cable and the tv cable from your 200c. Of course you will probably have to readjust the tv cable. You can also use your original 200c shifter, shifter cable, and linkage. The only downfall is you wont be able to lock out first gear. Otherwise I would suggest getting a B&M ripper shifter. Neither the 700r4 lower crossmember or the 200c lower crossmember will work without serious modification. I would suggest getting a spohn 200c to 700r4 crossmember. You will need a driveshaft from a 700r4 f-bod. And you will have to cut about an inch off the front of your torq arm. Most importantly make sure when your done to fill the tranny full of fluid before you try putting it in gear for the first time. I added about 9 quarts (not pints) of fluid to my transmission. I think a dry 700r4 can hold 11 quarts.

I don't believe the TH200C has a TV cable, it has a detent or kick-down cable. Not the same thing.
Since you're going to the junkyard anyway, get the TV cable & bracket from the same induction type you have (I assume you have a carb), doesn't have to be a 3rd gen. Get the driveshaft, torque arm, and rear crossmember from a TH700 or T5 3rd gen.
The front holes of the TH700/T5 crossmember will line up fine with the rear holes in the frame for the old crossmember. However, the rear crossmember holes won't have anything to bolt to, so match-drill them and put nuts inside the frame for those two bolts. This is all assuming the TH700 came from a 3rd gen. If not, then go with the Spohn crossmember/torque arm as suggested.

In my chiltons, it says that the 200C has a 'Throttle Valve' cable. Is this what I need for the 700-R4 or is the chiltons lying to me?

I'd believe that for a TH200-4R, but not a TH200C.
Perhaps someone who is more familiar with the TH200C can respond.
