axel madness

howdy,
is there a way to tell what axel gearing I have, given that I don't have the options sticker in the center console/glove box anymore?

For what its worth, its a 90 formula 305 TBI

Thanks!

Not going to be your favorite answer, but if you're willing to pull the rear cover off, and count teeth on the ring and pinion, or look for the ratio staped on the outer edge of the ring (can't remember offhand if GM did it with the 7.625 or not - they did withthe 8.5's...) you'll be able to figure the ratio quite quickly. Just divide the number of ring gear teeth by the number of pinion teeth and you'll have your ratio.

Let me know if you find an easier way...

" AXLE"

If you have a Auto Trans with the the 305 TBI your rear axle ratio
is a 10-bolt 2:73. Since this the most common set-up from the Factory. Or pull the cover on the housing and check the stamped numbers on the ring gear, more work for the same info.
