i went under my yesterday to check everything out and grease the LCA's and panhard rod.
i hoped in the pit asnd i saw that i have a ring of gear lube right around the tranny tennel covering evrything that is aligned with the yoke.
what is leaking and how easy is it to fix.

 

It's the pinion seal.

Not too hard; mark the position of the big nut, remove it, pop the yoke off, change the seal, put the yoke and nut back on, tighten the nut just barely past where it was (like 1/16 turn farther or so). The nut is 1¼", and it takes in the neighborhood of 200 ft-lbs of torque to deal with it. No big deal.

 

Alright, I have the exact same thing, and I going to try and fix it tomorrow. Big nut, will I realize which one when I am down there? Is this just taking in to count you need to remove the driveshaft first?
