2.73 to 3.73 Should i do it?
i have the 2.73 gears in my posi drum rear. this is an 87 z28 with 305 lb9 tpi. i was wondering if i should swap gears to 3.73 and what i would need to do it and how hard would it be to switch to disc rear brakes at the same time? i am looking for something to do over the winter and i want to start improving my car now that it is running good (knock on wood).

well im basically stock besides a shift kit (i think), ported plenum, k&ns, and an airfoil. but i am looking to get the car into the mid 13s. i dont know how to go about that in a cheap way but thats what i want to do eventually.

3.73's arent very fuel friendly and will rev the engine higher... Give 3.42's a try... right now I am going to be puting in a new Posi disc 3.27's from my old 2.73's drums...

i want disc brakes mostly. i dont want my fuel mileage to suffer at all. can i just go up a ratio and put discs in? how good are these 3.27s?

i went to 3.27s from 3.08s my gas mileage is the same if not better. driving like a nut around town i get 16mpg, if i really want i can get around 18 or 19 if i go easy and normal, on the highway ive seen around 30. this is great for a mid 13 sec car no doubt. ill be going to 3.45s for next season and i doubt itll hurt my mileage any and even if it does i got plenty to spare haha.
