Which line to use for trans cooler?

I am about to install a trans cooler on my 86 camaro but I am unsure of which line to the radiator I am suppose to use, is it the top one or the bottom one?

Thanks in advance everyone

....if you are installing a tranny cooler then totally bypass the small cooler in the radiator. This way the tranny temp will operate cooler and not be affected by hot coolant increasing the tranny fluid temp. The small coolers in the rad tend to collect debris and if not flushed will act as a line restriction anyhow. Better off to just go around it and keep the tranny as cool as possible unless you drive your car in -40 conditions.

The hot coolant will not increase the trans temp. The trans operates in something like the +200F range, not a cool 180 of the radiator.

You want to use your return line *Line that flows from radiator to trans* which on our cars is supposed to be the top line.

Connect the series as: Trans pumping to radiator, out to the tranny cooler, back to trans.

B&M's instructions say to install with the radiator not stand alone. Radiator will start to cool it, and the trans cooler will cool it even more.

There's so many arguments for and against each way that sometimes it doesn't seem like there's really a "wrong" way.

True, but when in doubt, follow the instructions.
