What 4'th gen rear to get??
I have a stock 92 RS 305 TBI....First off can someone tell me what gear ratio i have and what spline axles..
Next...If i'm goin to buy a 4'th gen rear end...should i go 93-97 z28 or 98-2002 Rear end....and i'm planning on haveing either one cut down to stock length of 3'rd gen rear end so my wheels dont stick out..
OR if anyone has a better suggestion for me it would be greatly appreciated.
Would it be possible to put a 4'th gen carrier in a third gen rear end....is the 4'th gen posi or limited slip...

If you are going to cut down the 4th gen rear, just get a thirdgen rear. they are the same. If I were you I would find a posi thirdgen rear it will probably have 3.23 gears or 3.42 gears.
The only good thing about 4th gen rears is that they all have disc brakes, and the v8 cars all had posi rears with 3.23, and the 6speed cars had 3.42 gears.
Your rear I believe has 28spline axles they are alittle stronger than the the older ones, I also believe the 4thgen posi carrier will fit in your rear.
I put a 4th gen rear in the back wheels dont stick out too far, check out my website for pictures... look in the sig

I like your setup....what year is your rear end out of? and how much did you pay for it....
Did you have to make any modifications when installing it?
How did you hook up your disk brakes?
thanks for the help..
By the way...Good lookin car!!

thanks man, my rear was out of a 97 6 speed z28 so I got the 3.42 gears. The disc brakes hooked up the same, make sure u get a rear with brake lines and ebrake cables, the only thing you need is a 4wheel disc brake proportioning valve. I got my rear for 200.00 bucks off ebay, from contemporary corvette in bristol, pa. Other than the prop valve, and slight griding on the ends of the ebrake cable, there is nothing needed all of your suspension hooks up the same.
