Since I'm swapping my T-5 for a Tremec 3550, I'll be getting it from Forte's. I know it comes with an adapter to mate it to the T-5 Bellhousing, Can i also reuse my original clutch master & slave cylinders? Also, with the 3500 do you need the special yoke? If so, will the heavy-duty yoke work with an aluminum driveshaft?

hey,
lucky for you i have a TKO in my car from fortes....and i live about 15 minutes from his shop.....
mike forte has good products....but hes an ******* to deal with lol.....
but thats neither here nor there,
your using your orignial bellhousing, so all your clutch stuff will bolt right back up, the adapter is a big piece of aluminum....
it looks like this when its bolted to the belhousing, this is mine......

i believe you do need the yoke as well, and it will go onto your driveshaft using and adapter u-joint.....but all this stuff should come with the kit, if your buying the whole kit
the tranny bolts up to the bell like the picture above, and it has a longer input shaft to compensate for the adapter which is about an inch thich......so none of your clutch components move
this is what the tko looks like, the 3550 is about the same thing

Also, if you are not getting the kit you will need spacers for your factory cross member. I have the spacers that come with the Fortes kit but I used a Spohn cross member. If you need these PM me and I'll make you a screaming deal
Good luck with the swap. These trannies are great.

I have a TKO intalled in my "Z". I tried the spacers that came with the kit and they sucked big time. So I also bought a crossember from Spohn and it fit perfect with no extra drilling or bs that you must do for the spacer kit.

Awesome thanx guys, so the yoke will work in an aluminum driveshaft? I've heard things about the u-joint being for a steel driveshaft....I'll probably get the spohn crossmember. Do i have to get the torque with it too? Or for now can I use the stock torque arm bolted the the tremec?

You should be able to use the stock torque arm attachments . I was using a GW traklink torque arm at first and never tried to use the stock torque arm.

The stock Torque Arm bolts up.
The U-joint that comes in the kit needs to change for the aluminum driveshaft. Evidently there were a couple different sizes used depending on year, so Fortes was reluctant to send me one.
When I got the aluminum d/s , I just took the yoke and the driveshaft down to the local drivetrain shop and they had everything I needed on the shelf (Spicer).
The crossmember mods weren't too difficult and I used the spacers, but I plan on eventually getting the Spohn Crossmember/ Torque Arm as well.
