How hard is it to move a 700R4 around?

I was wondering if two people could put a 700R4 into a minivan, and then lift it out. Or how else could I transport it?

Do you have an estimate on how much it weighs? Oh and how much would the tranny fluid add to the overall weight?

A full tranny, with full fluid, and TC on it I can't lift for long periods of time. I can move it, but I wouldn't exactly call moving anywhere near walking. I put one in the back of my escort with its high hatch, and took it out without anyone elses help. Took a lot of manuvering, and going slow but I got it done.

Now, ditch the Torque Converter, and drain the fluid and I can lift it no problem.

Two people can lift and move a filled 700r4 w/TC no problem.

I'd guess 160-200 full.

If I were to move one I would call my friend who benchs 320, and is a hellova lot stronger than me

its not light. you can pick it up and move it around, but like FruityOne said, you wont want to hold it for a extended peroid of time...

when i was in high school, i kept mine stashed in my room.... the day i went to change it, i carried it down a flight of stairs, thru the house and outside to the driveway..... i felt it in my arms for the rest of the day and into the next....

id drain the fluid and pull the converter off if i ever plan to do it again...

And, as Camaro_60108 (Joe) has proven, you can work on a 700r4 without draining the pan, OR making a huge mess!

I'm still amazed at that little though.
