700R4 Shift Kit Good or bad?

I was wondering if it would be wise or un-wise to install a shift-kit on my 84 700r4 with around 90,000 miles. I will be having it out to replace the front seal and a few other things so would it hurt or help me any?

I've never heard of a shift kit reducing the life of a transmission. I'm told they actually extend it because there is less slip between shifts.

No personaly experience here, just what I've read.

the B&M kits have been known to be too harsh and can cause problems. I'de personally go with the transgo and it will most definitely help extend the life of your tranny.

I've also heard bad things about the B&M shift kits. But never anything bad about the TransGo shift kits.

A blue plate friction set, TransGO shift kit, boost valve, and vette servo will REALLY wake up your tranny on the shifts. And thats without really getting into the hard parts.

The blue plate is part of a rebuild, so you'd have to tear into your tranny to do it.

Some TransGo shift kits come with the vette servo, and the boost valves. www.pro-built.net carries shift kits, so does KDS performance

I know the TransGo shift kit that KDS has comes with the vette servo, and the .500 boost valve.

But it looks like the one that Dana offers has more parts. Its about $24 more expensive though. Which isn't alot. Comes with more stuff though.

2->3 slip

since the install of my b&m shift improver kit on my newly rebuilt 700r4, I have the infamous 2 --> 3 slip. It's going back in to the tranny shop to be fixed. I've heard nothing but good things about transgo kits though... guess i should've spent the extra cash for a shift kit that actually works.
